Young Alpha Omega Study Group - Endodontics Demystified!

Alpha Omega

The Alpha Omega London Dental Society recently hosted a one-off study group on endodontics at the Academy of Advanced Endodontics, located at 99 Harley Street.

The study group was led by specialist Dr. David Selouk and attended by members of the Young Alpha Omega London Dental Society which includes recent graduates and dental students from King's College London.

The event provided valuable insights and practical advice on several endodontic topics, including facing endodontic troubles, vertical root fractures, CBCT diagnosis, paediatric endodontics, root canal re-treatment, electric pulp testing, and career advice. The study group was organized by Dr. David Selouk with Dr Diana Spencer in attendance, and their efforts were greatly appreciated by all attendees.

Dr. Selouk began the session by emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to endodontic treatment, which involves working with a team of professionals to provide optimal care. He shared his experiences and highlighted the significance of keeping abreast of the latest techniques and technologies to overcome challenging cases.

The Q&A session was informative and engaging, with attendees asking a wide range of questions related to electric pulp testing, vertical root fractures, CBCT diagnosis, paediatric endodontics, and root canal re-treatment. Dr. Selouk provided detailed answers to each question, drawing on his wealth of knowledge and experience in the field.

One of the highlights of the evening was the discussion on CBCT diagnosis and its use in detecting vertical root fractures. Dr. Selouk emphasized the importance of proper diagnosis and the use of CBCT to detect and manage such fractures. He also stressed the need for a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the tooth and surrounding structures to provide accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.

In addition to the informative discussion, attendees were treated to a selection of delicious snacks and drinks throughout the evening, including sushi, fruit, wine, and more. The refreshments were a welcome addition and kept everyone energized and engaged throughout the event.

Overall, the endodontic study group provided a valuable opportunity for dentists to gain insights and practical advice from an expert in the field. Thanks again to Dr. David Selouk for organising the event and to Dr. Diana Spencer, for their support, knowledge and expertise. It was an evening that was enjoyed by all who attended, and we look forward to have similar events organized in the future.
